BSU vs TCU
Gene,
I think the problem with your analysis is that you are not being fair. If Texas and Alabama finish their upcoming game with a score of 17-10 then you will say it was two tough teams with a great defensive display. When BSU and TCU finish with that score, you say it was as boring as watching paint dry. Look up the 13-12 score of Texas vs Nebraska this year! That low scoring game was enough to get Texas into a National Championship!
You admit that if TCU had laid a smack down on BSU then they would be worthy of a consideration for a split National Championship. If you thought TCU was that good, wouldn't the team who beat them also be worthy of that recognition? If Texas beats Alabama in a lack luster game would you consider voting them # 2 or # 3? Obviously not!
Why is it so hard for you to admit that no one will know who the best is until the best play each other? At the end of the season, there will be two undefeated teams and only one National Champion. One more game takes away all the speculation and lets the teams prove it.
In 2006 one bad call takes Oklahoma (vs Oregon) out of the National Championship Game and into the Fiesta Bowl. BSU beat them. In 2009 had Texas (vs Nebraska) missed the last second field goal then TCU is likely in the National Championship. Again, BSU beat that team. BSU has won the WAC, beaten the PAC-10 Champion, and beaten the MWC Champion. Isn't it time you gave them a little more respect?

Virtual
The term virtual is a concept applied in many fields with somewhat differing connotations, and also, differing denotations.
The term has been defined in philosophy as "that which is not real" but may display the salient qualities of the real. Colloquially, 'virtual' is used to mean almost, particularly when used in the adverbial form e.g. "That's virtually [almost] impossible".
As in:
"We are virtually national champions"

Breakfast at holly's
Sorry you left rich, brian, chuck, and d...hope you like ther day old bagels at the hotel...i'm eating fresh breakfast burritos!
POD - 3 AM
We have arrived - after much complaining of Brians driving - and we
are now searching for a safe spot to park the RV ... Phoenix is SO
well known for it's safe, crime free neighborhoods.
We may well find the RV up on blocks with the tires & rims missing...
